We all want to justify ourselves. So we tend to choose our neighbors carefully so we can win the approval of those whose opinions matter most. Jesus' famous parable about the Good Samaritan interrupts such thinking. Jesus draws our attention to the only way to be justified before God: through faith in our Savior. In fact, when we regard Jesus as our perfect neighbor, he convinces each of us to be a neighbor to every person who needs what we have to offer.
