Wonder of wonders, someone decides to forgive you for something you've done to them. They even say it aloud and give you a hug to confirm it. But then you hurt them again and find yourself wondering whether they can possibly forgive you all over again. Forgiveness, after all, seems like such a fragile gift. That's what makes the forgiveness we receive from the Lord Jesus so remarkable. He purchased it with his death on the cross. Then he confirmed it with his resurrection. Now the risen Lord lives to assure us that unconditional and eternal forgiveness is an indestructible reality for every sinner.
