Self-Denial

When faced with a choice between self-fulfillment or self-denial, our culture has one answer, it’s not self-denial. No surprise, our sinful nature only agrees with that answer. Self-denial gets in the way of pleasure, comforts, and everything else we seem to want for ourselves. But Jesus provides this missing piece for our lives and for our salvation. He leaves the glory of heaven and sets aside any selfish pursuits and pleasure. And although it would cost him everything, he pressed on for us and calls us to deny ourselves and follow him. And in so doing, we become complete.
